Ghost was an intermedia installation for School of the Art Institute’s Low-Residency MFA Open Studio Night, 2019. This display featured wall-writing/painting “yellow wallpaper”, two paintings, a two-channel video projection, and an artist book, Portals_Corners_Dashes.
Photography gave rise to paintings, paintings inspired writing, writing transformed into a video-essay, and the video-essay gave rise to the transcript painted on the wall. This became a project meandering through its containers. The shadow of its former iterations were present in the room, and the whole claustrophic work was a kind of euologization.
The two-channel video included time-lapse documentation of writing the video transcript (for Portals_Corners_Dashes 2.0) in yellow paint on the walls. This time-lapse channel was paired with a channel showing a slowly-paced montage of photography. The dual-channel projection upon a span of studio wall was framed by the yellow writing, providing a portal into the past.
